about

Being creatively stuck doesn't feel good. I think in my case, it was due to the gap that occurs between each release. The uncertainty of whether the emotions will resonate with the audience and when it will be ready.

Fortunately, I had a conversation with a friend, which served as a kind of intervention. I shouldn't dwell on songs indefinitely; they should live their own lives outside of my hard drive. Releasing unfinished songs didn't feel good, but I wanted to get rid of that feeling.

Compilation of ideas, emotions, themes, a diary. Some of the 22 songs on this album were created within a two-week period that started from that conversation, and the rest were selected based on a similar atmosphere and starting point. Quick strokes, energy.

The ant theme came about by chance. My friend told me that a common Finnish male name, Ari Aho, means "stupid ant." I thought about how we are like ants who believe they have free will, so the name resonated with my concept of aiming for "stupidity." Losing control because ultimately we are just part of a bigger whole. Perhaps in a nihilistic way, perhaps in an inspiring way. The overall atmosphere moves between these worlds.

The album cover emerged from the need to steal an image for the cover. I chose a scientific image because this surreal ant is composed of its tiny parts. Laser cutting, silk-screen printed CDs, a little exploration of materials. Like an ant building its anthill.
